The AppSense DesktopNow Suite is a really great product that has made my IT administrative life so much more easier. Their product does what it says it will do, and I have had a lot of success removing local administrative rights from all of our users when using the Application Manager product.
So it pains me to find that this problem is still a thorn in my side. AppSense has been aware of an issue where the CCA Service stops working after a Windows 10 in-place upgrade. In our environment we have been testing Windows 10 1511 (TH2) to the 1607 (RS1) release. The problem manifests itself when you notice the CCA service has stopped. Any attempts to restart it fail. The only viable option is to reinstall the CCA, which depending on your deployment method could get messy.
So if you are noticing that after an in-place upgrade of Windows 10 the service is not working, you are not alone.
Note: As of this post, the problem appears in v10 and v 8.7 SP1 of the CCA. While we do have open cases open for this issue with AppSense, we still have not received a solid ETA of when it will be fixed for our 8.7 version. I have heard there might be a fix for v 10.2, but nothing for 8.7. Since 8.7 has no EOL date yet, I would assume that the developers will eventually release a patch for the product. Hopefully this issue will resolve itself soon enough.
