We are currently testing and troubleshooting the Citrix Receiver 4.3 client.

Our current method is to launch published applications using ICA files. This works great for the most part, and until we finish upgrading our back end to StoreFront 3.0 and using StoreFront for application delivery.

Today this message popped up:

“Unable to launch your application. Contact your help desk with the following information: Cannot connect to the Citrix XenApp server.Protocol Driver error”

A quick google search brought up several relevant articles to why this message might appear. However in our case, turns out someone powered off a set of Citrix Test Servers that the ICA files were pointing to. After powering the servers back up, no more error message.
