After reporting to Citrix and Microsoft for several weeks that in-place upgrades break Citrix Reciever, Citrix has finally released a known issues document.

Citrix strongly advises not to apply the Anniversary Update (v1607) on existing Windows 10 machines with Citrix VDA for Windows Desktop OS or Citrix Receiver installed.

What becomes confusing and even more frustrating for system administrators and users, is that these issues were apparent when upgrading Windows to the technical preview releases that Microsoft had released several weeks prior to the anniversary update. In our own labs, we reproduced the issues when upgrading from TH1 to TH2 of Windows.

Is this the new norm when even large companies like Intel\McAfee, Symantec, Trend Micro, and Kaspersky release warnings to their Windows 10 customers that their products are not compatible with the Windows 10 version Microsoft is pushing out? Even Microsoft broke it’s own PowerShell with the recent release of their Windows 10 anniversary update.

Is this simply the new normal that we will have to accept as Microsoft continues to push updated releases every few months?
